Forever 15

"These girls were Forever 21 Friends - poor quality that didn't last."

Despite that this quote comes from the slightly horrific tween chic-lit novel (or one hundred and twenty-three page short story), The Clique, it does have a point: Forever 21 is poor quality that doesn't last!  Even though we all know this, why do we keep going back to the colorful emporium of double-digit-priced clothing and accessories?  For not so subtle knock offs of designer clothes and accessories!  Fashionista.com has also noticed this trend.  These pictures from their site (below) show the similarities!  It seems as though Forever 21 has a thing for MARC by Marc Jacobs (on the left of each picture)!

Honestly, that didn't stop me from going there today!  I know, I know.  I'm ripping off the fabulous designers who had toiled for months and months over their wonderful designs, only to buy an imitation for a fourth of the price!  But I didn't even mean to go there in the first place!  I supposed to go to lunch with some friends, but they were running late.  Then, the seductive fluorescent lights caught my eye.

I bought this free-hand checker tunic (above) and I am not ashamed to say it is from Forever 21!  I know I shouldn't have, my family and I are going up to Minneapolis in about a week which has surprisingly great shopping, but I was having kind of a bad day, and needed a pick me up!  Even though it will probably fall to shambles the next time I wear it!

Are you a fan of Forever 21?

To me, Forever 21 is just another suburban clothing store that you can find in almost every mall. Their clothes are decent and fashionable, yet really poor quality. Although, I adore that tunic you bought. That was a very wise purchase.

Great post!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

I've never actually bought anything from Forever 21, but I do rather like your top from there. I also subscribe to Fashionista and have seen many of the site's Forever 21 v. another designer comparisons.

Your blog header picture is quite adorable.

I feel bad too, cause I really love Forever 21! I buy their stuffs alot, but can they blame us? For us students wit a budget allowance, quantity is DEFINITELY over quality!

Do people not realize that all Marc Jacobs does is send people into stores to knock off vintage pieces? So what he's doing is the same thing, but charging a lot more.

I love Forever 21 but they do have poor quality and do knock off and sometimes completely copy the original designs.

But I still love em!!

I'm on a budget and can't buy the real thing so I settle.

Who knows?!

Thank you for the comments! So incredibly sweet of all of you to take time and share a piece of your mind!

fashion's the world: Oh trust me, I totally agree, Forever 21 is quite common. But yet again, slightly addictive!

little bow prep: Thank you so much, I'm kind of a tech geek and made my header my self! But yes, it is rather hilarious seeing the comparisons between Forever 21 and other designers!

madame dior: Yes, shipping is insane! I have to put my foot down when the shipping costs more than my order!

yiqin: Oh totally! I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! And I guess Forever 21 likes to flatter many a designer.

modelizer: Yes, it really is a big ol' chain of copycats! So technically, we are buying imitations of vintage pieces. Right?

fabfashionista: I know! We are fifteen, come on! I have a feeling if Marc Jacobs was in our position, he would succumb to Forever 21 as well!
